1.3. Introduction
We will be holding the fourth GNOME.Asia Summit in 2011 just before the GNOME 3.0 release. The whole summit will include a private hackfest (3days + 2 days optional). Our objectives are to get together GNOME contributors to work on, promote and celebrate the GNOME 3.0 release as well as leverage on the GNOME 3.0 release to build a bigger GNOME community in Asia. We target to invite the GNOME release team, Documentation team, Marketing team, Translation team and those contributors who will be involved with the actual mechanics of the GNOME 3.0 launch as well as those contributors living in Asia.
1.4. Objective
- To work on, promote and celebrate the launch of GNOME 3.0
- To leverage on this big GNOME 3.0 event to widely promote GNOME in Asia in different segments
1.4.1. Hackfest Goals

1.5. Date and time
The whole summit will include a 3-day hackfest (+ optional 2 days) and a 2 days conference. More details of the conference can be found at http://gnome.asia
- Hackfest: March 28th to April 1st 2011 just before the GNOME 3.0 release
- Conference: April 2nd to 3rd (right after the hackfest)

If you are attending the GNOME 3.0 Bangalore hackfest, it would be great if you can become a speaker in the GNOME.Asia Summit 2011 on April 2. The call for papers is already out and we hope to receive a lot of submissions from the Hackfest participants. Submit your talks today!
1.9. Costs
- Venues will be provided by Intel and Dayananda Sagar Educational Institutions for free. Thank you Intel and Dayananda Sagar.
- Excluded travel subsidies, we estimated around $1000 for 2 x stands and coffee for hackers.
- We budgeted $10k to $20k for travel subsidies depends on the sponsorship fund we raised.
1.10. How to get there
You can choose to take a bus or taxi to go from the airport to your hotel / venue:
1.10.1. Bus
BMTC {Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation} volvo bus service – From Airport take route number BIAS 11, get down at Padmanabhanagara and from there it's 1.5 km. You can take walk or hire an auto which should charge approximately Indian Rs. 20.

1.10.3. Travel Accommodations

- We will also provide a hotel booking service to all our speakers with a bargain price (30% discount). The daily rate of one room will be around $75 / room, one room is equipped with two single beds and can accommodate 2 persons. If you need this service, please email us at asia-summit-list(at)gnome.org by providing dates of hotel check-in and check-out. Besides, if you are willing to share a room with another speaker in order to save cost, please let us know in advance if you have any preferred room-mate.
Sponsoring Travel: GNOME can help sponsor travel. This includes hotel and airfare, but does not cover food. For details, please see GNOME Travel Policy and please fill out the application ASAP and turn in to the travel committee. Once the travel committee approves your application, then book your travel.
