After the success achieved over the past seven years, Da GNOME will take place at this year's "Encuentro Linux" (November 7, 8 and 9) in the city of Temuco located 670 kilometres (416 miles) south of Santiago . And we would be really glad to have some help from all of you to make this happen.
Our goal is the same as usual: We want to give people a chance to meet the "Chilean GNOME developers” and to show the assistants how easy is to get involved if they want it to and that we’re there to answer questions and share our/their enthusiasm.
At the past years, GNOME has had a special day during the chilean "Encuentro de Linux".
1. Our Goals
- To Showcase regional contributors as role models to interested users.
- Attract new collaborators and users with the presence of actual contributors.
- Allow interested users to meet, give and receive feedback from some of the Gnome project advanced users.
- Give time and space to the regional community members to interact and coordinate upcoming events
- Publicize GNOME Version 3.10.
2. Benefits for GNOME
- To give potencial collaborators the chance to meet actual GNOME Hackers and discuss with them how people could be more involved in the project
- Receive feedback from attendees users.
- Promote different aspects of the project through the presence of important guest speakers.
3. About Encuentro Linux
Encuentro Linux is the most important Linux event performed in Chile since year 2000. It gathers students, users, developers, enthusiasts and people from big and small companies. The event has also has given us the opportunity to share important protagonists' experiences like Horst Von Brand (Linux and Fedora Embassamer), Leo Soto (Jython Developer), among others. The attendance expected by Encuentro Linux is eager to expect around 400 people.
4. The goals of Encuentro Linux are:
- Establish new links between national Linux communities
- Allow communities to present themselves and explain about their activities
- Explain to new Linux users the various benefits of Linux software
- Motivate and help the participants
- Allow sponsors to show what they are doing (related to Linux and/or FLOSS)
- Motivate the local community of students to participate in events.
