1. Content Apps Hackfest 2015
2-4 December 2015, Madrid, Spain
Primary contact: AllanDay
Secondary contact: FlorianMuellner
1.1. Description & Goals
Hackfest to work on GNOME's content applications: Documents, Files, Music, Photos and Videos. Will bring together developers and designers for three intensive days of hacking.
The event is aimed to raise the standard of the overall content experience in GNOME. In particular, we want to identify and address missing features and sore points. Another goal is to stimulate the development of some of the content applications.
1.2. Agenda
These are just ideas - feel free to add.
- Find ways to share code and resources between the apps (for example: getting the nice new Documents collections dialog into other apps).
Porting away from libgd (GtkFlowBox, missing GTK+ widgets, etc.)
- Application-specific hacking (properties view in Videos, eBook/LibreOffice view in Documents, etc.)
- Planning for common missing features and infrastructure (for example: Sharing).
- Resolve common technical obstacles in the platform (for example: indexing removable devices with Tracker ).
- Review designs and development plans for each app, figure out how to get more contributors.
- Identify and work on sore points and critical features.
- Add a help overlay to all core apps
- Decide whether the content applications should also work as previewers (for example: if we double-click a file in Files, then should it open in eog/evince, or present a preview inside Files, or open in one of the other content apps?)

1.5. Accommodation
LGM 2013 was held at the same venue, and their website has a list of places to stay.
Airbnb and Friendly Rentals also have some good options in the area. Shared apartments often work out the cheapest.
