From 2006 onwards, an effort was made to relaunch the GNOME website using Plone. That work was never completed.
The release plan can be found here.
The GNOME Web revamp was split into 3 teams: Content, Design, and CMS.
In May 2009, a meeting was held to discuss the current status and action items. Read the Meeting Minutes
1.2.1. History
30 Oct 2006: Plone was selected as the CMS of choice (GnomeWeb/CmsSetup). That work is still in progress, as of September 2008.
